Studiotime is a the largest and most trusted online community to book music studios. We have music studios in 35+ countries on our site. We’re a bootstrap marketplace and have successfully generated thousands of bookings in the past two years since we first started.

Our mission is to help artists further their careers by making home studios to top-line studios all around the world accessible. We are also dedicated to helping studios share the incredible stories of music that originate in them, generate more bookings, and take their studio business to the world’s most creative and talented artists that search for studios on Studiotime.

Studiotime is a marketplace for booking some of the most unique and top music studios in the world. We connect artists with music studios that they might not have access to previously. Artists can search studios, compare prices, request to book, and easily pay through our platform. Our studios are also very passionate about helping artists and providing the best experience possible.

Our marketplace is a platform that allows anyone to create an account in minutes, discover studios, request a time, book, and pay without any hassles. For studios, we make it easy to add your studio, manage booking requests, message directly with artists, and accept payments. As a company, we operate the marketplace platform, market studios to artists, support our community, and ensure that both sides have the best experience possible.

If you are a studio, it’s very simple in that we are a platform for you to share your studio with the world’s top creatives, increase your bookings and revenue, and take your business beyond the reach of what was previously possible. We take the time and financial burden out of having to keep up with social media marketing, requests that are not vetted and become a hassle, and easily manage your bookings and payments.

You can discover and browse studios without creating an account. To message a studio, request a booking, or list your studio you will be prompted to create a user account.

All user accounts require an email verification. You must also add further verification and payment information when listing your studio.

Studiotime is an open platform marketplace that is worldwide. We have studio in 35+ countries. We are a small bootstrap startup located in Santa Monica, CA. We focus on the United States and UK markets, but have generated bookings all over the world!

Studiotime was started by me, Mike (Yoroomie). I’m a serial entrepreneur and came up with the idea one evening, cancelled dinner, built the first version of Studiotime, launched it, and the rest is history. If you’d like to know more about it, I share more on my YouTube and have given multiple interviews to media such as Forbes, VICE, Hypebeast, and more about it.

It’s not a big company and I run it in all aspects myself daily. I built the platform on my Macbook myself, so if you have any feedback, something breaks, or you need help just ask me. I’m a human, so please be nice and understand I do support a very large community to support with Studiotime. I love to hear from everyone though and often visit studios local in Los Angeles and all around the world. I share some of this in my vlogs.

The company is based out of Santa Monica and one of the facts that I’m most proud about it that we have raised $0 from investors. Yes, it’s been profitable from day one and I intend to never raise money for it. I’ve raised a bunch of money for other companies I’ve started in the past, but I’ve chosen not to with this. I’m also not interested in selling Studiotime. If you’re wondering why, it’s because I find that with capital comes massive expectations and not making the users and community the most important. I’d rather charge for Studiotime, reinvest revenue in the site, and commit myself to building the best online community for music studios in the world. I don’t want to sell it to a larger company that will not continue to put artists and studios that depend on Studiotime first.

Studios

Adding your studio to Studiotime is easy and only takes a few minutes. Once you’ve created a Studiotime account, you can select a subscription (here). We do require a monthly subscription to list have a studio listing. After you select a subscription, simply click the “Add your studio” at the top right. Please note that all listings are subject to review by our team to ensure the safety of our community. Once you submit your listing for review, we will approve it within 24 hours. We currently charge a 5% transaction fee for all bookings completed on Studiotime. This fee is automatically deducted from your booking total once you accept the request.

Studiotime was started by me, Mike (Yoroomie). Instead of starting a venture backed startup that focuses on vanity metrics, revenue at all costs, and expectations of investors, I’ve chosen to keep Studiotime a bootstrap company. We’ve raised $0 to date and this is something that I’m incredibly proud of. I’d rather build a platform that is so valuable that the community is willing to pay for Studiotime, we can reinvest revenue in the site, and I commit myself to building the best online community for music studios in the world. I don’t want to chase vanity metrics to raise more venture rounds, then have to sell it to a larger company that will not continue to put artists and studios that depend on Studiotime first.

If at any time you feel that a Studitime subscription you’ve paid is not worth the nominal fee to support the site, community, and offer the level of service and commitment that we do, please email me at mike@studiotime.io. I will cancel your subscription for you if needed and also refund any pro-rated subscription amount that was prepaid. We would love for you to add multiple rooms, studios, or locations to Studiotime! This has been a common request in the past and why we made our premium subscription package. With this subscription, we can also help you get started adding your listings and provide you with more support, marketing reach, and also typically booking requests. You must have a premium subscription to have multiple listings.

We put pricing in the hands of studios. You can price your studio at your discretion and please take local rates, taxes, Studiotime fees, and other fees into consideration when listing your hourly rate.

Your listing description should be an accurate description of the studio space, equipment, how it is typically used, and what artists can expect. Our community loves discovering new studios and the more detailed you can be, the more booking requests you will receive. You can also mention and detail additional services you offer. If you have particular studio policies, rules, expectations, booking terms, cancellation policy, etc please also include this in your listing.

All accounts that have a studio listing must add payout information in order to receive booking requests. Studiotime uses Stripe Connect to power payments. Adding your payout information is easy and can be done in these steps:

  1. When logged into your Studiotime account, click on the top right account avatar and then “Account” on the dropdown.
  2. On the left navigation, click on “Payments” which will take you to the “Payment settings”.
  3. Enter your contact information (required by Stripe for verification) and bank account information.

You can easily accept a booking request by doing the following:

  1. When logged into your Studiotime account, click on “Messages” in the top right navigation.
  2. On the left side navigation of your Messages Inbox, select the “Booking Requests” tab.
  3. Click on the booking request messages directly and you will see the option to accept or deny the booking request. Please note that you can also message the artist directly on the request to clarify and details or let them know about availability.

You are not required to accept a request and may decline any request. If you take no action to accept or deny a request, the booking request will automatically expire in 24 hours. If you missed the request by accident, you can message the artist directly from their expired request and suggest that they make another request.

Once a booking request is sent, the dates, amount, and details of the booking request cannot be modified. This is a booking agreement, so please note that we require the booking request to be resend with the accurate dates, time, price, and details per our Service Agreement and Community Guidelines.

If you require an in-house Engineer to be present and hired, you can select the option to include an Engineer in the hourly rate displayed on your studio listing. This can be done during your initial studio listing creation or by editing at any time from your dashboard.

If you require an hourly minimum for your studio to be booked, you can mention this on your studio listing in the hourly minimum field. This can be done during your initial studio listing creation or by editing at any time from your dashboard.

If you offer additional services that are not included in your studio booking, you can select the option for this to be displayed on your studio listing. This can be done during your initial studio listing creation or by editing at any time from your dashboard. Please note that we do not offer additional services to be booked part of studio booking currently on our platform and this is outside the Services Agreement. Studiotime is only responsible for Booking Agreements with or without an Engineer included in the hourly rate.

We do not currently have a deposit option, but instead only offer full booking payments to be accepted on our platform. If you require a deposit, accept a booking request, and do not use Studiotime for the full payment of this, please note that this is outside our Services Agreement and a Booking Agreement.

We let studios identify their individual cancellation policies, so we also let them message with artists and bookings directly to communicate availability, changes in dates, booking modifications, and also cancellation policy enforcement. In the event that this can not be agreed upon directly with an artist and studio, you can email us at admin@studiotime.io directly.

The amount that you made from the booking will appear in the bank account that you entered your payout information for within a few business days following the booking date. This time period is typically 7-10 business days for the first transfer and is then quicker for following transfers. This process is handled by Stripe. Rest assured that once you accept a booking request, the person that booked your studio has been charged for the booking and paid for it. You must also legally report income generated from Studiotime to your business and it is your responsibility to do so. If you are responsible for charging local taxes on services, you must also comply with these regulations.

Artists

Booking a studio is easy on Studiotime and you can do so by creating a user account if you have not done so already. Once you do, you can then select a date and time on an individual studio listing and click “Request to book”. On the next page, you will be able to enter a message to the studio regarding how you intend to use the studio, any specific details, requirements, or needs regarding the booking request. You can enter your payment information and send the booking request to the studio.

You will only be charged if the studio accepts your booking request within 24 hours. If they do not accept or deny your booking request within 24 hours, it will automatically expire and you will not be charged.

If you are having trouble with a booking request, you can easily message the listing owner directly from the studio listing. Please note that it is against our Community Guidelines to send personal contact information or transact off our platform.

When you submit a booking request, a temporary hold is placed on your card until the request is accepted, denied, or it expires. If the request is accepted, your card is charged for the booking request amount. If the booking request is denied or expires, your card is not charged and the amount is no longer held. This time period is dependant on your bank, but holds are typically released by the next business day. Your card will not be charged for denied or expired bookings for any reason. A booking request is not binding, it is simply letting a studio know you intend to book. A request is a binding Booking Agreement once accepted by the listing owner or studio though. If you sent a request by mistake, need to modify it, or cancel, we encourage you to immediately notify the studio using our messaging. Each studio listing enforces their own cancellation policy identified on their listing, so please keep this in mind prior to submitting a booking request. You can send multiple requests, but we strongly recommend that you wait to hear back from a studio once you send a request. If the request is urgent, you can also send them a message regarding the booking request directly from their listing.

Studios are typically very responsive and reply back as soon as they receive a booking request. If you do not hear back from a studio regarding your request, you can also send them a message regarding the booking request directly from their listing.

Studiotime does not require an hourly minimum for studio listings, but we rather let studios individually indicate their hourly minimums directly on their listing. If they mention an hourly minimum in their description, please note that they might not accept your booking request if it does not comply with their hourly minimum.

Once a booking request has been sent it can not be modified. You can however message the studio directly, request for them to cancel, and resubmit another booking request.

A booking is confirmed once indicated as completed by the studio listing owner.

While we do everything that we can to build the most trusted community of music studios to book, we rely on our community of users to help us by being proactive and always reporting any suspicious activity on our platform. We also have Community Guidelines in that outlines this in more detail.

Yes, we ask that you never take communication outside of our platform messaging and never give your contact information prior to entering a Booking Agreement. We also have Community Guidelines in place that outlines this in more detail.

Legal & Insurance

Yes, you should have an insurance policy in place for your studio prior to listing it on Studiotime.

No, Studiotime does not offer marketplace insurance for bookings and instead suggest that all studios adequately ensure their studio, equipment, and premises prior to listing it on Studiotime.

Yes, you can require that artists have their own insurance policy in place for them to book your studio. In the event that you require this, please mention this in your description, notify all booking requests of this requirement, and also receive proof of insurance to verify this prior to accepting a booking.

Your Booking Agreement through Studiotime is an agreement for an artist to use the studio as defined in the listing for the exact date, time period, and for that price. If you have further studio requirements, please notify a booking request directly and ensure they are aware of these prior to accepting the booking request, prior to the booking time, and their arrival.

My Account

You can create a user account in minutes doing the following:

  1. Click “Log in” at the top right
  2. Enter your email address and create a secure password
  3. Please check the email address you entered and confirm you email

You can reply to messages and accept a booking request by doing the following:

  1. When logged into your Studiotime account, click on “Messages” in the top right navigation.
  2. On the left side navigation of your Messages Inbox, select the “My Requests” to see your studio booking requests and “Booking Requests” tab to respond to booking requests.

You can cancel your subscription at any time by using the link to your Chargebee portal that was sent for your initial subscription payment confirmation. If you have an issue doing this or would like us to cancel your subscription for you, please email us at admin@studiotime.io.

If you would like to permanently delete your Studiotime user account, please email us at admin@studiotime.io.

If at any time you feel that a Studitime subscription you’ve paid is not worth the nominal fee to support the site, community, and offer the level of service and commitment that we do, please email me at mike@studiotime.io.
